Demo Day: Top 10 outstanding startups at SK Startup Fellowship 2023

On November 29, the Top 10 startups of SK Startup Fellowship 2023 (SKSF 2023) participated in the Demo Day final round and the Top 3 outstanding ones will receive a grant of $50,000/startup; the remaining 7 startups receive $15,000/startup.

According to the results of the Top 3 SKSF 2023: Kamereo is a B2B distributor, providing the simplest and most economical supply chain solution for restaurants; EcoTruck is a logistics ecosystem that applies technology, helping to upgrade the operation and management of transportation with large scale and efficiency; FoodMap Asia is a bridge between producers and consumers, optimizing the agricultural supply chain and enhancing the value of Vietnamese agricultural products.

In addition to the Top 3 SKSF 2023, BUYO Bioplastics received the Encouragement Award of the program, which is a grant of $25,000. The remaining startups received a grant of $15,000/startup including OnMic, IC2 Digital Health, Rostek, Wecare, OLLI Technology, and Beta PropTech.

Speaking at the opening of Demo Day SKSF 2023 on November 29 in Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. Chun Chae Rhan, Senior Vice President cum Director of SK Vietnam, said that startups play an important role in promoting economic growth and social development. Despite the challenges posed by the current economic downturn, the researchers of SK Startup Fellowship 2023 have shown their steadfast commitment and adaptability.

At the event, Mr. Dong highly appreciated the efforts of SK Group in organizing the SK Startup Fellowship program, which has funded more than $1 million without converting shares for 37 Vietnamese startups in the past 3 years. The program has stimulated innovation and entrepreneurship in Vietnam, contributing to creating new momentum to connect Vietnamese startups with the Korean startup ecosystem.

On behalf of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, through the National Innovation Center, the Ministry will accompany the SKSF program in the coming years; at the same time, it will continue to support startups and innovation through specific action programs.

At the same time, Deputy Minister Tran Duy Dong also asked SK Group as well as investment funds and investors to continue to contribute and comment on policies and mechanisms for the Government and related ministries to improve policies and institutions to attract investment, especially in the field of venture capital investment to support startups to have a foothold in the international market, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of Vietnam’s economy.

SKSF is an annual program of SK Group to discover and support early-stage entrepreneurial talents, especially startups with social impact elements. SKSF is also a program that lays the foundation for a close relationship between SK Group and Vietnam’s startup ecosystem, ready to cooperate and accompany SK Group in Vietnam for a long time.

Earlier, on May 22, SKSF Batch # 4 officially started and attracted nearly 200 startups to register. On July 27, SKSF 2023 organized Orientation Day to announce the Top 15. After that, the expert council spent time seriously evaluating and considering selecting the Top 10 outstanding startups to enter the acceleration program. After nearly 6 months, SKSF has accompanied startups through many in-depth activities such as 1:1 consulting with mentors; networking with the ecosystem of investors, venture capital funds, and corporations in Vietnam; and a special highlight of SKSF 2023 is a business trip to Korea to meet directly and build relationships with potential investment funds in Korea.
